Frequently asked questions

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. KotaCAD runs in your browser (Chrome, Edge or Safari). Sign in, upload your DWG files and you are ready. Nothing to install on each computer.

What if I want my drawing archive in my office?

That is what KotaCAD Hub is for: a server we install in your office. Your team still uses it from the browser, but the full archive lives there.

How is KotaCAD Hub installed?

In two visits, about 6 to 8 hours in your office in total (an estimate; it depends on the size of your archive). The steps: 1) we review your folders without moving or changing anything, read-only; 2) we separate drawings from everything else and find duplicates; 3) we read the title block, parts, bills of materials and text of each drawing; 4) we suggest which department each drawing belongs to and you confirm it; 5) we build your archive by department, customer, project and drawing; 6) we hand you a report of what we found; 7) nightly backup is set up, along with an Entrada (Inbox) folder the Hub watches. We install nothing on your team's computers.

What if my company has several departments?

One device serves the whole company, with permissions by department: each person can view, edit or approve only what applies to them. Before the visit we send you a short questionnaire to define the departments and who can do what.

Do I need AutoCAD?

Not to request or review changes. Your files stay DWG, so your team can open them in AutoCAD anytime.

What is a credit?

The unit we use to measure work. A simple change uses about 3 credits and a complex one about 65. You see the total before every batch, and overnight your credits go further.

How does support work?

By email and WhatsApp, Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. If a drawing comes out wrong, we fix it at no credit cost.

What is the initial scan?
